Cyder Bay farm is located in beautiful eastern Wisconsin,
just 35 miles south of Green Bay & 25 miles north of Manitowoc along the cooling shores of Lake Michigan.

Meet the Family

 Both, David & Robin have been raised on farms and have practical animal husbandry knowledge. Robin also has a formal degree in Equine Management.
Our farm started in 1985 with a love for horses Robin selected a Morgan mare to produce future show horses and she achieved a high standard fast with our first foal winning the Reserve World Champion title at age 3 years.
Another CBF foal was a World Champion in multiple divisions this continued for years until she was retired for showing.
We had a very small horse breeding operation with a great success rate, which I accredit to the extensive study that went into every breeding and in the horse world there is a great amount of history you can study along with use of AI (artificial insemination) where the whole world is your pallet!
We never wanted quantity, but sought out “quality” in every foal we produced!

As our kids were growing up we wanted to get involved in a breed that would be “kid” friendly and then we accidentally discovered miniature donkeys.

In 1995, we began a new adventure with the intention of raising quality miniature donkeys. We started with careful research into the history of the breed and correct phenotype. Then we began our search for select individuals to serve as our foundation herd. 
Our research is always on going as we often seek out new lines to maintain diversity within our herd, and we will occasionally add select individuals that will compliment our current breeding program.

With years of experience in the field of breeding and management practices of Equines in general...CBF is dedicated to producing healthy quality animals with pleasing eye appeal, correct conformation, and workable personalities all within the realm of preserving the true Mediterranean/Sardinian heritage within the American Miniature donkey breed.
 
We have gone to great lengths to acquire donkeys and breed donkeys containing meaningful pedigrees & pleasing correct “phenotype” with the ability to pass on their inherited qualities to the next generation.
With our selection we hope to produce an attractive useful desirable donkey that can be a pet for the kids along with bringing home the ribbons if you desire to enter the show ring.

As a breeder we take full responsibility in what we are producing, we strive for that quality in every foal we produce. 
Our goal is to produce the quality animal first, and although color and size are always secondary in our thoughts we have achieved a variety of sizes and lots of interesting colors to choose from.
 
Maintaining a healthy safe spacious environment is also a priority, along with 
feeding our animals properly, so we tend to spend allot of time studying & updating their nutrition needs. 
We feel that maintaining proper vitamin/mineral supplements along with grain (when needed) and quality hay types, as well as fresh water daily, vaccinations, and rotational worming is all part of owning animals and being a responsible owner.
There is also individual care to be addressed like that of proper hoof trimming, grooming, and training that should go along with your donkey learning to be a well mannered and well adjusted individual.
