CBF spends a great deal of time on the selection of our herd sires. We feel the “Herd Sire” is vitally important in producing quality offspring, as well as the selection of each “Jennet”, as each contributes equally to the foals genetic make-up. BUT ~ Jack selection is even more critical to ones breeding program as one jack can produce more foals in one year than a jennet might produce in her life time. Therefore, a jack can spread his genetics much faster than any jennet so emphases on “quality” and what that jack might potentionaly offer to future generations is the major factor for any breeding jack!
We look for athleticism in conformation, correct “breed type”, and correct balanced conformation with super genetic make-up & capabilities. The proof of a great herd sire is his ability to “consistently” produce foals of equal or greater value than himself & the dam. The proof is in the progeny ~ you might say!
We invite you to see more about our jacks by clicking on their photos for their personal information.
